We are not going to tell you that our tours are wonderful. Our guests already did that — across 28 Google reviews (at the moment of writing this post), all of them five stars.

This post is a collection of what our guest riders from across the world experienced when they came to ride with us in Transylvania. We have organised their words by theme, because certain things come up again and again — and those patterns are worth paying attention to if you are trying to decide whether this is the right trip for you. The Horses: The Detail That Surprises People Most

If there is one thing that almost every guest mentions, it is the horses.

Riders arrive expecting trekking horses. What they find are rare Hungarian warmbloods — Gidrán and Kisbéri Halfbreds — that are genuinely exceptional animals. The reaction is consistent:

Vita Hunor, who described his experience as the best riding available in Transylvania, praised the horses as extremely well-trained and the equipment as high quality, noting that the guides are deeply knowledgeable in horsemanship, wildlife, and routes.

Martha Grilli called it a truly magical experience, and was particularly struck by how well the horses are cared for — describing the way that standard of care shows directly in what a pleasure they are to ride.

Madeleine Bunbury wrote about beautiful, healthy, and well-trained horses taking her group on an adventure through Transylvania's wildflower meadows and forests, with the horses grazing around the yurts in the evenings.

Rabab El Guwiri highlighted the horses as well-trained and healthy, noting that you can visibly see how happy they are — which, for any experienced rider, is one of the most telling signs of a well-run operation.

From Spain, Andrea Vega gave a detailed account of how the saddles are fitted individually for each horse twice a year by a specialist saddler, and that the horses live in large herds on open pasture with food and water available all day. She recommended the experience to anyone wanting an equestrian adventure in Transylvania.

The Landscape: Beyond What People Expect

Transylvania is not a well-known riding destination. Many guests arrive without a clear mental image of what the landscape will actually look like. The reaction — almost universally — is that it exceeds what they imagined.

Emily Maister, writing after a 2026 visit, described entire forests seemingly to themselves, with a landscape that took her breath away. She added that no detail was amiss, and that Lehel tailored the experience to suit her group's particular interests.

Oleksandra, who visited for a one-day ride in April, called the views impeccable and described the experience as amazing in every respect, from the quality of communication to the ride itself.

Karin Schånberg spent a week on the Legendary Transylvania Tour and described the whole experience — accommodation, riding, food, and everything else — as magical and superb.

Rebecca Sofiadotter Lepic, writing in Swedish, described riding up to seven hours a day through a very vivid landscape with beautiful views, and highlighted her horse as exceptionally reliable, kind, and easy to handle at all paces.

Mia Canestrini put it simply: adventurous and unforgettable.

Lehel, Anna, and the Team: What Hospitality Actually Means

A small family operation lives or dies by the quality of its people. The reviews make clear that this is where EquiTransylvania stands apart from larger, more anonymous tour operators.

Emily Maister noted that every detail was taken care of, that dietary requests were accommodated, and that the whole group felt genuinely looked after — not just by Lehel and Anna, but by everyone involved, including Melinda who handled airport pickups and cooking.

Natasha Ninni described the team as super professional, generous, and kind, writing that she genuinely could not decide what she preferred between the riding, the food, and the places visited — everything was ten out of ten.

Andreas Lischer, who visited with a friend for a multi-day tour, said they would never forget the experience and would absolutely book again.

German-speaking guests Britta and Oliver Möller wrote separately about two days as guests, both praising the warmth of the welcome, the quality of the riding through the surrounding hills, the accommodation, and the traditional food cooked and shared together.

French guest Coralie Occioni highlighted the friendly guides, comfortable saddles, and a good amount of trotting and cantering — recommending the experience warmly.

Polish rider Katarzyna travelled specifically from Poland for the riding, called it the best equestrian excursion of her life, and stated she will definitely return.

The Food and Accommodation: Authentic, Not Luxury

Several reviews specifically mention the food — which is entirely homemade, locally sourced, and served with the kind of generosity that is harder to find in a larger operation.

Madeleine Bunbury described delicious, traditional Hungarian meals served in great company, noting that the combination of yurt glamping with horses grazing nearby and home-cooked food was what made the experience feel magical rather than just good.

Vita Hunor specifically noted that all food is locally sourced, delicious, and flavourful, and that the tour focuses on showcasing local communities and cuisine — something that sets the EquiTransylvania experience apart from a purely riding-focused holiday.

The accommodation — a mix of a restored traditional Transylvanian guesthouse and yurts at a remote mountain camp — is described consistently as simple, gorgeous, and quiet. Not luxurious, as one guest honestly noted, but perfect for the kind of experience this is.
